Ipswich Town announced on Monday the appointment of former Super Eagles winger Sone Aluko as part of their first-team coaching staff.
The 35 year-old Aluko, who retired from professional football at the end of last season, has embarked on a new chapter in his career.
He recently began his UEFA B coaching course provided by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).
In a statement, Aluko expressed his enthusiasm for his new role: “It is a real privilege to start the next phase of my career by joining the first-team coaching staff here at the club. Learning from the manager and all the coaching staff here is a fantastic opportunity for me.
“It is a great time to be at Ipswich, and I’m really looking forward to helping the squad continue to learn and take on the challenge of the Premier League.”
Throughout his playing career, Aluko represented Rangers, Hull City, Fulham, and Reading.
He also earned seven caps for Nigeria, scoring two goals for the national team.
