Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Thabang Stemmer expressed his support for Stanley Nwabali’s proposed transfer to his former club.
Stemmer stated that Nwabali would bring valuable experience to the Buccaneers’ goalkeeping lineup.
“The reason Pirates released the two, I think it’s because they want to beef up with Stanley Nwabali,” Stemmer stated in a recent interview with Kickoff.
“Even when I was still playing, Pirates always beefed up with top goalkeepers. All the big teams need top goalkeepers.”
Reports indicate that Orlando Pirates are among the clubs interested in signing Nwabali.
Stemmer believes that acquiring the Nigerian would benefit the team significantly.
“Remember, Pirates go deeper in all competitions. If Nwabali comes, it would be a good thing for Pirates. We need competition,” he added.
Nwabali, 27, played a significant role in Nigeria’s impressive Africa Cup of Nations outing in Cote d’Ivoire.
