Former Liverpool star insists Osimhen Perfect fit for Reds

Ex midfielder Don Hutchison says Victor Osimhen is the best centre forward in the world and he should be transfer target for Liverpool and Manchester United.

The ex Liverpool man was critical of the Premier League giants for not pushing to sign the Nigerian who has been in good form for Napoli this season.

Liverpool spent £85m on Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez from Benfica last summer, while United also opted to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley, after paying £2.7m fee to terminate his loan at Besiktas.

Hutchinson who played for Liverpool believes both clubs should have approached Napoli for Osimhen who he values at £150m, and not Weghorst and Nunez.

“I promise Man United fans that this is not a dig, but on the night that he (Osimhen) scores two and the night that he tore Juve defenders to shreds, Man United spent £2.7m on Wout Weghorst,” Hutchinson told ESPN.

“That tells you where United are at. That’s the sort of player that if they are serious, if they want to win the league again, that’s the sort of player they should be spending £150m on.

“He’s a world-beater. No (they wouldn’t sign him in January) because they haven’t got the money. If Napoli win the league he could, they are £1bn in debt and Napoli wouldn’t let him go.

“The lad is world-class. He plays the game like no other centre-forward. Why are Man United not signing him? Why are Liverpool not signing him and signing Darwin Nunez? He is the best number nine in world football.”

Osimhen scored twice and assisted one against Juventus last Friday to take his tally this season to 12 goals in 14 Serie A appearances for table topping Napoli.
