Super Eagles head coach Finidi George is focused on securing victories and building a team with the winning mentality over the emphasis on structures and shapes.

In an exclusive interview with Brila FM, Finidi expressed his aim to win through all available means, rather than strictly adhering to tactics and formations as a key philosophy.

“Formations are not that Important because if players understand when to attack and when to defend, and they do it well, there won’t be any problems,” he explained.

“The key is for players to recognize the right moments, and if they do, there will be no issues.”

Also speaking on his personality in relation to his coaching style and its impact on the team, Finidi noted that it has been beneficial.

“I cannot change who I am; I am a quiet type. But if I need to pass a message to my players, I do that effectively,” he said.

The Super Eagles will face South Africa on June 7 and Benin on June 10 in two World Cup quifiers, and in what are his first major competitive duties since his appointment this May.
