Nigeria qualified for the 2024 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations after a comeback 3-1 victory against Niger Republic in the semifinals of the WAFU B U20 Championship, on Sunday.
Aliyu Zubairu’s Flying Eagles rallied from a goal down after Niger took an early lead in the 10th minute and worked to defend their advantage.
However, Nigeria’s persistence paid off as Enyimba FC’s Clinton Jephta scored twice, putting the team in the lead. Alonge added a third goal, securing Nigeria’s spot in the tournament.
As the defending champions, Nigeria will face Ghana on Wednesday in the WAFU B U20 Championship final, where the regional title is on the line.
