Dutch tactician and former Assistant coach of the Super Eagles Simon Kalika have urged the Flying Eagles to step up their game in order to go far in Niger and at the U20 World Cup in Poland.
Speaking to brila.net in an interview, Kalika said that it is not going to be an easy one for the flying eagles and that the coach needs a good tactical plan to be victorious on Wednesday and at the U20 world.
”The team needs to be physically fit and have little knowledge of their opponents to enable them to read the game and then play their own pattern of the game and not be surprised by their opponents.”
Nigeria have never been in the finals since 2005 and are hoping to play in their first finals after losing in the finals to Argentina in 2005.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will face fellow West Africans Mali in the semi-final of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday at the Stade Seyni Kountche, Niamey.
Kalika was appointed alongside Salisu Yusuf and Ike Shorunmu as assistants to Samson Siasia in 2010.
