Flamingos departs Turkey for World Cup venue, India

The Nigeria U17 Women football team, the Flamingos, have traveled to India, venue of the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Bankole Olowookere’s side flew to India from Turkey, where they camped for the Championship.

The team spent ten days in Turkey and played two practice games with top league sides Galatasaray and Fenerbahce ladies.

Flamingos beat Galatasaray 3-1 in the first game, but lost to Fenerbahce by the same scoreline in the second test game in Kocaeli.

At the World Cup tournament, Nigeria will clash with Germany, Chile, and New Zealand in Group B.

Nigeria, who return to the World stage after missing the 2018 edition in Uruguay, will kick start their campaign against Germany on 11th October (same time as the opening match) at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa.
