The Flamingos are through to the quarter-finals of the ongoing U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup in India.

The Bankole Olowookere’s girls defeated Chile 2-1 in their last Group game in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

Goals from Blessing Emmanuel in the fourth minute and another strike from Bisola Mosaku in the 82nd minute secured the needed win, despite a late goal from the South Americans.

The Flamingos advanced to the last eight as Group B runners-up with six points, three behind Group winner Germany who themselves defeated New Zealand 3-1.

Flamingos Opeyemi Ajakaye was named as the Player of the Match, Her second of the tournament.
