Finidi George is yet to sign his contract as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, despite the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) official announcement of his appointment.

Following the departure of Jose Peseiro after the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Finidi was unveiled as his successor by the Federation on Monday.

However, the formalization of Finidi’s role is pending as the NFF and the former Nigerian player prepare to meet in Abuja this week to iron out the final details of his appointment.

The contract is expected to be for a year with option of renewal.

Also, scheduled discussions include sessions with the NFF Technical Committee, Technical Department, as well as meetings with the NFF President, Secretary-General, and other members of the executive board.

One significant hurdle in the negotiation process is Finidi’s existing contract with Enyimba, the Nigerian Champions.

Although the club expresses satisfaction with his career progression, the NFF is tasked with finding common ground with Enyimba to secure Finidi’s release.

Moreover, the Federation is actively strategizing the composition of Finidi’s coaching staff, drafting a list of potential assistants, and initiating preparations for upcoming matches next month.

As both parties engage in dialogue to finalize the contractual arrangements and address logistical matters, Nigerian football enthusiasts eagerly await the official commencement of Finidi George’s tenure as the helm of the Super Eagles.
