Enyimba head coach, Finidi George refused to throw in the towel, saying his side could still qualify through the quarter-final of the African Football League.
Enyimba lost 0-1 to Wydad Athletic Club at the Nest of Champions in Uyo on Sunday.
Yayha Jabrane’s first half penalty gave the North Africans a slim advantage ahead of the second leg in Casablanca next Saturday.
Finidi, in a chat with BRL said, it’s unfortunate his side lost at home and attributed the defeat to missed chances.
Despite the setback, he remains optimistic about his team’s chances in the African Football League quarter-final.
“Football is about goal scoring, if we had scored the overall result would have been different,” Finidi told BRL.
“In a couple of days we will have the return leg. I’m happy that in as much as we want to win the game, I’m happy that we lost by just 1-0 which gives us another opportunity to go over there
and see if we can turn it around.
“If we have the same opportunities that we got here, if we can take one or two it’s going to be a different ball game.
“I’m quite optimistic about the second leg, but it’s unfortunate that we lost the first leg.“
The second leg of the money spinning competition will be held at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
