Finidi Provides Chukwueze, Awaziem Injury Updates

Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has provided an update on Samuel Chukwueze’s injury status.

Chukwueze, 25, had missed AC Milan’s last three games against Salernitana, AS Roma, and Torino due to an injury.

In addition, the winger has not been fully training with the team and was seen limping during one of the sessions.

Fresh concerns arose when Chukwueze missed Wednesday evening’s training, initially suspected to be due to a foot injury.

Speaking during the pre-match conference Finidi said, “Chukwueze had a knock, Awaziem had a stomach problem, but all players are fit and ready to go.

“We have trained well, the players understand the task. I trust my players and their quality. It’s a must-win game. I don’t have anything to prove. I am relaxed; it is football.”

“I want to win, I understand the tasks. I am not scared; I played to the highest level, and we are going for a win tomorrow (Friday).”

The three-time African champions will take on South Africa at 8 PM today at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
