Former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje has called on fans to support the team’s head coach, Finidi George, rather than criticize his player selections for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Sodje emphasized that this being Finidi’s first squad list as the substantive coach, he should be given the benefit of the doubt.

“Every manager has their own trusted players,” Sodje explained to brila.net. “I’m sure the technical side of the NFF helped him with some picks since he’s new to the job.

“However, having worked with Peseiro, Finidi knows the players he wants to work with. As ex-players and fans, we need to support him because we all share the goal of qualifying for the World Cup.”

Sodje further urged positivity and unity saying, “We should pray and be positive about his choices, hoping he gets the results needed to take us to the World Cup. I wish him good luck and hope for the right results.”
