Finidi disappointed with home draw against Akwa United

Head coach Finidi George explained the reasons for the failure of his team to win their first home game of the reason.

Enyimba played out a frustrating draw with Akwa United at the Aba Township Stadium, with the away team a better side in the first half.

Five minutes to the end of the first half, Enyimba survived by a hair’s breadth as James Ajako’s long range drive crashed against the bar.

Finidi George was forced to make three changes at the interval, switching the game into the hands of his team, but substitute Eze Ekwutoziam fluffed the biggest chance of a strong second half display, shooting wide from eight yards after a fine run and delivery from Imo Obot.

“The first half we allowed them to play and do what they want, but that changed in the second half and that should have been the approach from the beginning, but we did not do that. We’ll take a point but there is lesson everyone has to take from the game.” Finidi said in his post match conference.

“We didn’t conceed and that’s the only positive I can take from the game, the defenders did well and for others we have to work harder, get our mental state right and realize that every team coming here want to prove a point against Enyimba. So we have to win ever game here.” He concluded.
