Super Falcons head Coach Thomas Dennerby has assured that more than half-a dozen home based players will get their chance at the World Cup in France, a news that will no doubt come as a cheerful for many.
Dennerby will, in June, become the first foreign Coach to lead Nigeria to a Women’s world cup tournament and the Swede seems keen to mark an impression.
As quoted by thenff.com, the Falcons gaffer, who is preparing a an entirely home based team for the WAFU Women’s tournament in Abidjan, shed some light on his plans for the players in the NWPL.
“The WAFU tournament is very important for the domestic players as it will avail the team an opportunity to play five really good games,” the Coach said.
“Honestly, the most important thing is not to win the tournament but to have good performances and to have a good environment because some of them will participate in the final camping in Austria.”
“It’s a little bit early to know the exact number, but definitely about eight or 10 domestic players will make the team.”
