FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup: Sabastine Seals Narrow Win for Nigeria in Opening Game

Flourish Sabastine scored a late goal in the second half to seal victory for Nigeria against Korea Republic in their opening group D match of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Bogota, Colombia.

Sabastine broke the deadlock with four minutes of regular time left to play, despite both teams’ having created several goalscoring opportunities.

The forward, who plays for Stade de Reims in France, was assisted by substitute Goodness Osigwe.

It was a good response from the Nigerian girls after group favorite, Germany, trounced Venezuela 5-2 in their own encounter.

The current standings in Group D has Germany sitting top with a superior goals difference, while Nigeria, Korea Republic and Venezuela follow in that order.
