Gusau revealed that the Falconets departed Nigeria for Colombia last weekend to engage in these preparatory matches.

“The Falconets left Nigeria for Colombia two weeks before the competition so that they can play quality friendly matches in readiness for the task at the finals,” Gusau stated.

Initially, the Falconets were also scheduled to play against Colombia, but Gusau noted that the host nation withdrew from the friendlies, leaving Mexico and Australia as the confirmed opponents.

The FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup is set to take place in Colombia from August 31 to September 22, 2024.

This edition marks the first time the tournament will feature an expanded 24-team format.

Nigeria, drawn in Group D, will face Germany, Venezuela, and Korea Republic in the group stage.
