FIFA U17 WWC: Olowookere Demands More Despite Flamingos’ Winning Start

Nigeria U17 WNT coach, Bankole Olowookere is satisfied with the Flamingos’ commanding 4-1 victory over New Zealand in their opening match of the World Cup, but he has also demanded more.

Olowookere underscored why a positive start for Flamingos in the group stage sets a solid foundation for the remainder of the tournament

Speaking after the game, the Coach explained that, “It’s a good game, we executed our plan.”

“What the plan was, is to win the first match. The first match at the World Cup is very, very important.”

“We make it count by getting maximum points, and we did by scoring four goals – which is okay for the girls. ”

“The most important thing is that we can score more goals. So we try to prevent conceding a lot, but what we can be sure of is more goals.”

With Nigeria set to face Colombia in their next group game, Olowookere called on Nigerians to get behind the team.

“Millions of people are following the match, and the testament of it is the messages that we are receiving from them when we are playing.

“We still need them to keep supporting us, and we’re not going to let them down.”
