Speaking in an interview with Sports Radio Brila FM, Olowookere explained that following the performances of Nigeria’s U-20 and senior women’s teams, all eyes are now on the Flamingos.

“We know expectations are high, and my technical crew and I are working hard to prepare the girls to handle that pressure,” he said.

The Flamingos have been in camp for over a month, playing several friendly matches, including one where they scored over 20 goals.

The team also sparred with boys’ teams to test the players’ physical strength and ability to cope with high-pressure situations.

Olowookere also touched on the group stage opponents; New Zealand, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic.

He identified the host nation as the most challenging team due to the lack of familiarity with their playing style.

Nigeria will face New Zealand in their opening game on Wednesday, October 6th.
