Bankole Olowookere, head coach of the Under-17 national female football team, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a win against Liberia in Abuja on Friday.
The match is the second leg of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualification series between both side.
Nigeria pummeled Liberia 4-1 victory in the first leg held in Monrovia, Liberia, last Sunday.
“We participated in the last edition of the Under-17 World Cup in India, and we are determined to participate in this year’s championship and surpass our previous position,” Olowookere stated.
Coach Olowookere has called on residents of the FCT and its environs to come out in large numbers to support the team.
“I was impressed with the crowd at our last match against Burkina Faso. We want spectators to come and support these young female players.
“The girls are determined to win this final match of the qualifying series; they have done it before, and they will do it again,” he said.
“The team is ready for the final encounter; the defenders, strikers, midfielders, attackers, and the entire technical crew are set for the game.”
The Flamingos will face Liberia in the second leg match on Friday at 4 PM Nigeria time at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
