FIFA U-17 WWC Qualifiers: Nigeria Secures World Cup Spot, beats Liberia 6-1 on Aggregate

Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have qualified for the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
The Flamingos secured their spot by defeating Liberia 2-0 in the second leg of their final qualifying round at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday.
Harmony Chidi was the star of the match, scoring both goals in the 4th and 63rd minutes.
This victory followed their 4-1 win in the first leg, which took place at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia on June 9, 2024.
With an aggregate score of 6-1, Nigeria sealed their qualification.
Head coach Bankole Olowookere earlier revealed that the team’s goal to secure a ticket to the World Cup and represent Nigeria in the Dominican Republic.
“Our target is to secure a ticket and represent the country in the Dominican Republic,” Olowookere told the News Agency of Nigeria.
The team now looks forward to the U17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place from October 10 to November 3, 2024.
