The Federation of International Football Association, FIFA has imposed an 18-month transfer ban on Russian club CSKA Moscow over unpaid transfer fees involving Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke.
CSKA Moscow were sanctioned after failing to pay Dutch club Heerenveen €3 million for Ejuke’s transfer in 2020.
FIFA stated that the ban will remain in effect until the outstanding amount is settled.
Ejuke, 26, joined CSKA from Heerenveen and made 55 league appearances for the Russian side, scoring 10 goals.
During his time with CSKA, the winger spent loan spells at Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin and Belgium’s Royal Antwerp before eventually leaving on a free transfer in the summer.
Now at Spanish club Sevilla, Ejuke has made a positive start to his La Liga journey, scoring once this season before sustaining a hamstring injury in a match against Barcelona.
The Super Eagles star has returned to training and is expected to regain full fitness by January.
