FIFA/ CAF approves Cape Coast Stadium for Black Stars—Super Eagles clash

The Cape Coast Stadium is likely to host the first leg of the FIFA World Cup qualifier playoff between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Doubts were raised over the state of the pitch, after Ghana celebrated their 65th independence anniversary at the Stadium.

According to Brila source in Ghana Koffi Mensah, the Ghana’s National Authority have now doubled efforts to get the stadium ready for the clash and FIFA inspectors are happy with what they found .

Koffi added that, there a strong indication that the stadium will the approval of the football authorities.

He said :

“CAF inspector who came from Uganda checked the pitch and we are told by an authority who pleaded anonymity said ,the inspector gave good signal at the Cape Coast Stadium and it is likely that FIFA will accept the venue .”

“Previously it was reported that ,they stadium would be rejected, because of the sorry state it found itself after Ghana’s 65th independence anniversary at the Stadium, but works have done deeply on the field and management of green grass technology are responsible for shaping the field .”

“We are told that ,the CAF inspector was pleased with what he saw and it likely that the Cape Coast Stadium would be approve .”

“The final inspection will done on Monday and by that time, CAF and FIFA give the green light for the Cape Coast Stadium to host the game .” Koffi Mensah told Brila media .

The first leg is scheduled for 25th of this month and the second leg would be played in Abuja four days later .
