Feyenoord to reopen Talks to Sign Dessers

Cyriel Dessers’ future at Genk is not certain, despite Wouter Vrancken been a strong admirer of the 27-year-old forward.

KRC Genk Manager Vrancken stated that he wants to keep Dessers for the coming season, but the question is whether Cyriel Dessers want to remain at the club with first choice Paul Onuachu still very much around.

The Nigerian spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, and he did excellently well, scoring 21 goals in 42 appearances.

Feyenoord failed to make the deal permanent with disputes over the Player’s €4 million valuation by his Belgian parent club.

However the club made over 40 million euro following the sale of Luis Sinisterra and Tyrell Malacia, and they can now afford to sign the striker at the moment.

Feyenoord Manager, Arne Slot already said that he would like to have Dessers back with the team, while the striker revealed he did not close the door on a return either.

“I think that door is always ajar. It can always be pushed open again. It is certainly not a closed book for me and I don’t think it is for them either,” Dessers hinted on a possible return to the Eredivisie.

“I had a fantastic time at Feyenoord. I will not just forget that and that is still in the back of my mind. I am curious what will happen this summer,” said Dessers in an interview with De Telegraaf last week.
