Feyenoord won’t be content with reaching the final of a major European Competition, winning the Europa Conference League is now the ultimate objective for the team says forward Cyriel Dessers.

Dessers and Feyenoord enjoyed a good run to the final of Europe’s third tier competition, where they’ll face AS Roma on May 25.

Speaking after their 3-2 semi-final aggregate success against Olympique Marseille on Thursday, the Forward said, lifting the trophy remains top priority for everyone at the club.

“PSV is waiting again on Sunday, but we can now celebrate a small party. We’re just going to the final in Tirana,” Dessers told the media after the game at Stade Velodrome.

“We had a good run, but it’s about winning. That is the goal of the tournament. It’s not easy in this stadium, with their fans.

“If you want to perform in Europe, you also have to dare to play football in a hostile stadium with 60,000 supporters. That could have been a bit better,” He said.

Feyenoord won the European Cup (Champions League) in 1970 and the UEFA Cup (now Europa League) in 1974 and 2002.

A win against Roma in the UEFA Europa Conference League means, they will be the first and only side to have had their hands on all three of the current major UEFA men’s club trophies.
