Super Eagles and AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze is eagerly anticipating the new season and has promised AC Milan fans a better performance next season.
The 25 year-old joined AC Milan from Villarreal last season but had a rough first season with the club scoring 3 goals and 3 assists in 33 matches.
In a preseason match against Manchester City, Chukwueze provided two assists to secure a 3-2 victory for AC Milan against the EPL champions.
Speaking in a post-match interview with Milan TV, the former Villarreal player praised his new coach, Paulo Fonseca, and expressed confidence that the Portuguese coach would help him reach his full potential.
“I like the new coach. He gave me an opportunity straight away, and it’s important when someone trusts you. The fans will see a new Samu this year.”
Reflecting on the friendly match against Manchester City he said, “We had a great feeling in this second friendly. It wasn’t an easy match and winning it was exactly what the team and our coach needed to have more belief and train better.
“We still have a lot to learn about the coach’s schemes. We made some mistakes but we managed to limit them and we took our chances. We have to continue working and stay focused on the season.
“I’m very happy to be part of the team from the beginning. I hope to be able to give my best for the team this season to show my worth,” the winger concluded.
AC Milan will play against Real Madrid on Thursday before taking on Barcelona the following week.
They will then return to Italy to kick off their Serie A campaign against Torino on August 17.
