Falconets’ World Cup Preparations in Full Swing – Danjuma

Christopher Danjuma, head coach of the Falconets, has provided an update on the team’s preparations for the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup.

He reported that the training camp for the invited players is progressing well, with a focus on building a strong and experienced squad.

Danjuma highlighted that the current camp is rich in talent, featuring players with experience from the Under-17 level as well as those who participated in the qualifiers.

The camp is designed to be comprehensive, addressing both technical and tactical aspects of the game.

“The camp is excellent because we are really filled with players that have experience from under 17 and those that played in the qualifiers.

“So we have a swelled-up camp that’s rich in every department and even technically and tactically,” Danjuma stated.

As part of the preparations, the team will engage in several friendly matches during the first phase of the camp to build cohesion and match fitness.

These matches are expected to be revealed to the group shortly.

“Yes, we are in the first phase of the camp and within these phases we are going to have some friendly matches. I believe we’re going to have some friendly matches which will be revealed to the group in a short while,” he added.

In August, the Falconets will set up a training camp closer to the World Cup venue, approximately 10 to 12 days before the tournament begins.

This camp will include matches against at least one or two European countries to further prepare the team for the competition.

“They will be having a training camp, but when we get to August, we’ll be having a training camp close to the competition itself. Maybe about 10, 12 days to the competition, we’ll be moving for a training camp from Nigeria.

“So even in the training camp, there are matches already lined up with at least one or two European countries,” Danjuma concluded.

The Falconets aim to be in peak condition as they head to Colombia for the World Cup, which starts on the 31st of August.

They will kick off their campaign against South Korea on the first day of September at 6pm local time and then will square up against Germany three days later, 5pm local time and a final group game against Venezuela 3pm local time.
