Falconets’ Esther Onyenezide talks tough ahead World Cup opener with France

Falconets’ stars continue to share their ambitions and expectations at the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Midfielder Esther Onyenezide is upbeat about Nigeria’s chances of winning the opening match against ‘tough’ France.

The Falconets will take on their French counterparts at the San Jose National Stadium later this evening.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Falconets’ star Onyenezide said they are ready to do the nation proud.

“We are the giant of Africa and we are not scared of any team.

“Based on our training and our last qualifying games, we are confident of playing good game. We have to show them we are the giant of Africa. I’m confident we’ll beat them.”

As part of the preparations for the clash, France beat Nigeria’s neighbors Ghana 4-0, but Onyenezide however insists the result is irrelevant.

“We don’t care about their results against Ghana, we’ll beat them like they beat Ghana. Our team is good and I have confidence in everyone of us,” She concluded.
