After Enugu Rangers’ 2-1 defeat to Remo Stars on NPFL matchday four, coach Fidelis Ilechukwu voiced his frustration over a controversial incident that he believes showed a lack of sportsmanship.
Ilechukwu criticized Remo Stars’ coach and players for continuing play and scoring while a Rangers player needed medical attention, saying they ignored fair play in pursuit of victory.
“They’re a top-class team, but I’m disappointed. Fair play was thrown aside when a life was at stake,” Ilechukwu lamented. “Winning isn’t everything in football. You have to value human life over desperation to win.”
This marked Rangers’ first loss of the season, and Ilechukwu expressed his disappointment, stating that football is not just about the result but respecting the well-being of players.
He called the situation a “big disappointment” and emphasized the need for fair play in the game.
