The Fédération Algérienne de Football ( FAF ) have announced Lucas Alcaraz as the successor to Georges Leekens.
The 50-year-old Spaniard has agreed a two-year deal with the FAF, with a renewal option for two additional years.
A former Levante and Almería Manager, Alcaraz was hired by the Algeria FA four days after he was shown the exit by La Liga side Granada CF.
Les Fennecs are currently bottom of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying group with a single point.
Algeria suffered a 3-1 defeat to Nigeria and were forced to a 1-1 at home by Cameroon.
