Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman is excited to be shortlisted for the 2024 Ballon d’Or and CAF Player of year award.

Lookman’s standout performances this year have included a vital role in his club’s Europa League victory, where he scored a memorable hat-trick in the final.

He also helped lead Nigeria to the Africa Cup of Nations final, narrowly falling to hosts Côte d’Ivoire with a 2-1 loss.

“It’s special to be on this list, and even more special being the only African nominee,” Lookman told BBC.

“This year has been about incredible achievements with both my club and country, and it’s an honor to be recognized as a contender among the world’s best players.”

The former Everton and Fulham star is also among the top contenders for the African Player of the Year award, scheduled to be announced on December 16.

“It’s been an extraordinary year,” Lookman told BBC Sport Africa.

“I’ve made great strides, and this season has truly been a defining moment in my career.

“But I believe this is just the beginning of something very special.” He concluded.
