EXCLUSIVE: Opeyemi Ajakaiye Makes Debut US Carolina Accent FC; Eyes Return to Super Falcons

Super Falcons forward Opeyemi Ajakaiye has officially made her debut for Carolina Accent FC, a team she is currently playing for on loan from Kansas City Current.

The 23-year-old Nigerian international, who previously had an underwhelming spell in Spain with Madrid CFF, voiced her excitement about this new chapter in her career after playing her first match with the US club.
“I’m very happy to be in this family, Carolina Accent. They are very good, friendly, kind, and I like the way they play and everything they do, I understand,” Ajakaiye shared in a statement following her debut.
The forward, who has been working hard to regain her form, revealed that her next big challenge is to make her family and her country proud.
“Just a matter of time, I’ve played my first match and I pray to continue playing, playing so I can get back to the national team and make everybody proud.”
Ajakaiye also expressed gratitude for the support and motivation she has received from fellow Nigerian players, both in Spain and in the United States.
“Thanks to everybody advising me, pushing me well, motivating me, especially thanks to Rasheedat Ajibade. When I was in Spain, she was the one motivating me.”
“And Monday Gift was talking to me that I should not worry about what was going on.”
Now in the US, Ajakaiye is excited to be surrounded by familiar faces, including some of Nigeria’s brightest stars.
“I’m very happy that some Nigerian players are here. Like my favorite, Asisat Oshoala, she’s here and she talks to me.”
“Okiki, my coach, Osahon Orogusa Emmanuel, the career builder, thanks to him too and my friend and my mom’s prayer. I want to thank everybody for everything,” she concluded.
Moving forward, Ajakaiye said she’s focused on working on her development and making an impact at both the club and national team levels.
With her debut now behind her, Opeyemi Ajakaiye is ready to work hard, improve, and ultimately earn a permanent spot in the Super Falcons lineup, with her eyes set on future international glory.
