Ex Real Sociedad star Adepoju celebrates Umar Sadiq’s Transfer

Former Real Sociedad attacking midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has congratulated Sadiq Umar over his move to the Club.

Umar completed a €20m move from UD Almeria to the Europa League campaigners on the transfer window deadline day, Thursday.

Following the move, Sadiq becomes Nigeria’s 8th most expensive player and second player to sign for the Basque based team.

Reacting to the deal, Adepoju who played for Anoeta Landlords between 1996-2000 expressed his delight and charged his compatriot to repay the fans with goals.

“Dear Sadiq, congratulations on your move to Real Sociedad. This is where legends are made, so feel at home and keep the goals coming,” He posted on Twitter.

Adepoju played 88 league matches and scored 8 goals during his time at the Spanish La Liga side.

The former Super Eagles star enjoyed a solid first campaign, but later struggled heavily to hold down a regular place with the Basques.

He left the club in 2001–02 to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad Club (Jeddah), but quickly returned to Spain where he featured rarely for second division club UD Salamanca.
