Everton satisfied with team’s performance after draw at Gombe

Akwa United head coach Rafael Everton Says he’s satisfied with his side display in the away 2-2 draw with Gombe United in one of the Nigeria Professional Football League rescheduled game on Sunday.

The Promise Keepers almost had a perfect game after coming back from a goal down to take the lead away from home, thanks to goals from talisman Mfon Udoh and Emmanuel Charles before Gombe United restored parity with controversial penalty in the 89th minute which was converted by Musa Usman.

Speaking after the dramatic game, Everton praised his team’s character to come back from a goal down in a difficult away game.

“I am happy with the result even though I would have preferred all three points. It was a tough match especially after going a goal down. We had to be mentally strong to be able to come back and get a point. I am proud of my boys and their performance.” Everton said after the game.

Akwa United has now extended their unbeaten run to six games after the draw with the Ladan Bosso’s side.

The 2017 Aiteo Cup winners are third on the log of NPFL Group B with sixteen points from ten matches.
