Everton boss Sean Dyche plans Calvin Bassey transfer
72
Premier League relegation battlers, Everton, are interested in LCB Calvin Bassey for next season.
According to reports in England, Everton boss Sean Dyche is planing a move for the defender later this summer.
They stressed further that, Dyche planned to rebuild the Toffees backline ahead of next season with the Nigerian one of the key targets for his proposed new look Everton.
The Athletic reports that Everton are already planning for a future without Yerry Mina as the defender nears the end of his contract at Goodison Park.
Mina’s exit will create a vacuum in the squad, and Bassey has been touted to be the ideal man to fill the space.
Calvin Bassey arrived at Ajax last summer in a €23million deal from Glasgow Rangers and as direct replacement for Lisandro Martinez.
He has struggled to recaptured the form that convinced Ajax to invest heavily in him, and has been in and out of starting XI.
He’s not in the pecking order under interim manager John Heitinga who prefers Juriel Timber and Edson Alvarez in the center back.
The move however depends on how Everton ends the Premier League season as the player is not interested in playing in the Championship.
Everton are currently battling for survival, but Dyche has faced some difficult fixtures during his first month in charge, playing Arsenal twice and Liverpool at Anfield.
