Former Super Falcons Captain Evelyn Nwabuoku says she wasn’t happy for being left out of the team that won Nigeria’s 8th AWCON in Ghana and believes she deserved a recall into the team base her current form as one of the best playmakers in the Nigerian women football league.
Nwabouku was overlooked by Coach Thomas Dennerby as Rita Chikwelu and Onome Ebi led the Falcons to victory in Ghana to book a place in the Women’s World Cup scheduled for France, she also missed the Cameroon edition back in 2016.
Nwabuoku proved to be back in full fitness as she became the engine room of Rivers United last season and was later voted the best midfielder in female football in Nigeria.
“I think I deserve a recall to the Super Falcons to give the team a boost. I have missed back to back women AFCON due to injury in 2016 in Cameroon and last year in Ghana. I just want to reunite with my teammates in Super Falcons
“Missing out of the AFCON in Ghana was very painful considering the amount of efforts I put in to be part of Super Falcons team that won the cup. I have put that behind and I just want to rejoin the team and play my part in the growth of the team ahead of the world cup in France bill for June this year.”
A serious battle with an injury led Nwabuoku to return to the country two years ago from France, she played a prominent role in Rivers Angels winning the Nigerian regular league last season.
