Europa League: Tella leads Leverkusen to victory over Molde

Victor Boniface made a cameo appearance in Bayer Leverkusen’s Europa League match day two fixture against Molde at Aker Stadion on Thursday.

Boniface was surprisingly named among the substitutes as coach Xabi Alonso fielded a front three of Adam Hlozek, Nathan Tella and Amine Adil.

The Super Eagles forward was introduced with seven minutes left on regulation time, replacing Hlozek.

Boniface had few touches of the ball and mustered just a shot on target before the referee sounded the final whistle.

Leverkusen won the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Ghanaian born Dutch winger Jeremie Frimpong and Nigerian-English star Nathan Tella.

Frimpong gave Leverkusen a dream start to the game, firing the visitors ahead inside the opening 14th minute.

Nathan, who recently expressed interest in switching allegiance to Nigeria, added the second for the away side four minutes later.

Norway’s midfielder Emil Breivik pulled a goal back for Molde but Leverkusen held on for a slim win.

Following the victory, Leverkusen remain on top of Group H with six points from two games.
