Eto’o Takes Legal Action Against CAF

The President of the Federation of Cameroon Football (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o has decided to take the African soccer governing body to court.

The former Indomitable Lions attacker appeared before a panel on Wednesday after being charged with various offences.

The continental football body has yet to release a statement about the outcome, but Eto’o has chosen to seek redress in court.

“I have mandated my lawyers to file a complaint against CAF and for responsibilities to be established.

“It was too easy to tarnish everything I had built during these few years in the world of football. CAF launched a press release much too early. This is unacceptable behaviour,” he stated.

Match-Fixing and Ethical Violations Allegations

Samuel Eto’o was interrogated ten months after being accused of involvement in match-fixing by players.

On Tuesday, he appeared before the Confederation of African Football’s disciplinary panel to defend the allegations.

Though there was no word on how he pleaded since the questioning took place behind closed doors, the allegations assert that Eto’o irregularly helped one club rise to the top of the Cameroonian League two years ago.

In addition to the match-fixing charge, there is a complaint with FIFA alleging unethical conduct regarding an ambassadorial deal he secured with a sports betting company.

If found guilty, Eto’o could face a lifetime ban from football.
