Oghenekaro Etebo has emerged as Stoke City’s Player of the year, the Nigerian sharing the news on his social media page on Sunday night.
Etebo, who joined Stoke from Portuguese side Feirense in the summer of 2018, featured prominently for the Potters, making 32 appearances and contributing two goals and an assist as a Defensive midfielder.

Regardless of the award though, the stats this season for EFL Championship players disagrees with the choice of the Nigerian as Stoke City’s best player.
Per whoscored.com Joe Allen (6.99 rating in 4132 mins), Tom Ince (6.82 rating in 3102 mins) and Sam Clucas (6.78 rating in 2006 mins) all rate higher than Etebo on over all performance this season.
Etebo was rated 6.76 overall in the 2552 minutes played for Stoke this season, per Whoscored.com, coming in 171st while Allen (the highest rated Stoke player) is 62nd of 353 players recorded in the league.
