Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that Taiwo Awoniyi is currently being evaluated by the club’s medical staff ahead of their Premier League clash against Everton.
Awoniyi sustained a hamstring injury during Forest’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United, which caused him to miss the following match against Aston Villa.
“He felt something in his hamstring,” Nuno said after the Villa game.
The 27-year-old Nigerian forward is not the only injury concern for Forest, with key players Chris Wood, Ola Aina, and Anthony Elanga also currently sidelined.
“We’re still assessing all of them. They’re dealing with different issues—some minor, some more serious. We need one more day to evaluate and then decide if they can be involved against Everton,” Nuno explained during his pre-match press conference.
Awoniyi has struggled with injuries throughout the season, managing just three starts and 350 minutes of Premier League action so far.
Nottingham Forest are enjoying an impressive campaign, currently sitting third in the Premier League table with 57 points from 31 games.
However, with some key players unavailable, Nuno faces a challenging task in maintaining the team’s momentum and pushing for a Champions League spot.
