Enyimba is not under pressure to carry the hope of the Nation on their shoulders on the continent in the season’s campaign Midfielder Austin Oladapo has said.
Enyimba started their CAF Champions League campaign with a 1 – 0 first leg away win over Burkina Faso side FC Rahimo in Ouagadougou last weekend.
The Implications of the first leg results is that, the Two times CAF CL winners are in good position to progress into the next round.
After the result in Ouagadougou, fans were full of praises for Enyimba’s and the clubs is also tipped them to go far on the continent.
When quizzed, if Enyimba is under pressure due to the expectation , Oladapo told brila.net the club is not new to such demands, but hope to make Nigeria proud.
“We are not under pressure, we only sees it as an opportunity to make ourselves and Nigerians proud,” said Oladapo.
“We worked so hard in the first leg, but we are not going to let ourselves down in the second leg and Nigerians should be expecting total victory from us.”
Nigeria’s second representatives in the CAF Champions League, Plateau United lost at home to Simba SC of Tanzania.
In the Confederation Cup, Kano Pillars and Rivers United lost to AS Jafaar and Futuro Kings FC respectively.
Oladapo, has however backed the Nigerian clubs to turn the ties around in the second leg.
“Other teams also tried their best, I’m sure they will do better in the second leg,” he concluded.
