England’s Lauren James Writes Alozie After Red card Incident

England midfielder, Lauren James has apologized to Michelle Alozie after the stamping incident during the round of 16 match in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, on Monday.

James stamped on Alozie and was shown straight a red card in England’s 4-2 penalty shootout victory against Nigeria in Brisbane.

The Chelsea midfielder had a frustrating night, as she was kept quiet all game by Alozie and Halimotu Ayinde.

Her unsportsmanlike action generated mixed reactions, with many among Nigerian fans asking FIFA to further punish James aside from the three-match suspension.

Alozie on Twitter, however, urged the fans to let the England player be, stating that, it was moment of passion, and insurmountable emotions.

Reacting to the Alozie’s tweet, James, apologized for her actions.

“All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened. Also, for our England fans and my team-mates, playing with and for you is my greatest honour and I promise to learn from my experience,” She wrote on Twitter.

The English FA also said in an official statement:

“Lauren is really sorry for her actions which led to the red card and is full of remorse. It is wholly out of character for her.

“We will be supporting Lauren throughout and will be putting forward representation on her behalf. We fully respect FIFA’s disciplinary process.”
