Coach Bankole Olowookere had won bronze at the last edition in India, and was poised to chase for a winner’s medal in Dominican Republic.
However, Team USA proved a more formidable Opponent ensuring they shutout the Nigerian girls for a comfortable win.
Nigeria’s exit means from this edition of the competition means Africa’s wait for a first title win in a major Women’s football tournament will continue.
Africa’s other representatives, Zambia. and Kenya were both eliminated in the first round.
