A former member of the Nigeria Football Federation’s Technical and development committee Barrister Austel Elumelu has welcomed the decision of the Confederation of Africa Football CAF to cancel the 2020 edition of the Africa Women Cup of nations.
Elumelu speaking in a chat with brila.net said the cancellation had become necessary in the light of a number of challenges concerning the hosting and even the health concern as it is only when players are healthy that football can be played.
“It’s a welcome development giving to the fact that we have this Covid-19 pandemic and we do not want to leave things to chances because it’s only when somebody is healthy that you’re able to engage in sports and knowing Africa people want to participate in terms of been fans.
The various nations that will come for any competition and if it is not there, that means the basis for the competition is already defeated.”
