Ejuke and Iheanacho’s Full Debut as Sevilla Held to Goalless Draw

Super Eagles players Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho made their full debuts for Sevilla on Tuesday night, but their efforts were not enough as the team was held to a goalless draw.

Sevilla’s search for their first win of the season continues after drawing their opening match and suffering a loss to Villarreal in their second game.

The Andalusian side played out a 0-0 draw in their away fixture against Mallorca at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix in midweek La Liga action, marking their first scoreless outing of the campaign.

Ejuke and Iheanacho both joined Sevilla on free transfers this summer. Ejuke, who joined first, impressed during pre-season, proving to be a livewire on the left side of Sevilla’s attack. Iheanacho, who arrived later, featured in just one pre-season match.

However, both players spent more time on the bench in Sevilla’s first two games of the season. In the opener against Las Palmas, Ejuke did not play, while Iheanacho was not included in the matchday squad due to late registration.

In their second game against Villarreal, the two Super Eagles stars were introduced as second-half substitutes.

Making their full debuts, Chidera Ejuke played 89 minutes and was one of the standout performers, completing four successful dribbles out of five attempts, achieving a 91% pass accuracy, and creating six chances.

Kelechi Iheanacho, deployed upfront, played 69 minutes. He contributed two chances created and one shot on target.

The 27-year-old found it challenging to make a significant impact on the game, although his one clear shot was well-executed and required a strong save from the opposing goalkeeper.

Both players are still searching for their first goal or assist in La Liga after two matches.

Up next for Sevilla is a home match against Girona on Sunday, where Ejuke and Iheanacho will hope to be in the starting eleven once again as they continue to cement their places in the squad.
