Former Nigerian international Emeka Ezeugo has labelled Austin Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and other ex international who worked with Amaju Pinnick led NFF board as the ‘worse enemies’ of Nigerian football.
Reacting to Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the former defender told www.brila.net that his former teammates are part of the problems and should share in the blame.
He stated that, the ex internationals failed in their duty to put the football administrators on their toes, and shouldn’t have accepted their appointments.
“When a water gets contaminated from it’s source, it trickles down to other territory. From the president to smallest member of football family, they have failed Nigeria. We choose the wrong people to run our football.”
“We lost the tickets long ago, before the match was played, we have derailed.”
“I’m not trying to exonerate my former teammates and the ones who came after us, like Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha and others, these are the people that murdered Nigerian football. Even Eguavoen and I say these things to their faces, not behind them . They are the worse enemies of Nigerian football.”
“Several NFF President have approached me with an appointment, but I turned them down, because I know they want to shut me up, and stopped me from criticising them, so why can’t my teammates ( Eguavoen, Okocha, Alloy Agu, Samson Siasia and Peter Rufai, Mutiu Adepoju, Victor Ikpeba, others) do the same, when they were appraoced.”
“They went to collect appointment from Amaju Pinnick and allow Nigeria football to die. All of them contributed to this, How can we epitomized failure and expect to succeed.” He told www.brila.net.
The Super Eagles were kicked out of the World Cup race, after playing a 1-1 draw with Black Stars of Ghana at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday.
