Ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier against Libya, interim coach Augustine Eguavoen has backed his striker, Victor Boniface to score in Friday’s match.
Boniface has been a standout performer at Bayer Leverkusen under coach Xabi Alonso, scoring six goals and registering one assist in just nine matches this season.

However, he has struggled to replicate that form for the Nigerian national team, with just one goal to his name.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Eguavoen was unwavering in his belief that Boniface’s time will come on the international stage.
“Victor Boniface has always been a part of this team and will continue to be a part of this team.
“Yes he is not finding the back of the net but I can assure you if he starts tomorrow he will score.”
With Victor Osimhen unavailable due to injury, Boniface has a golden opportunity to step up and lead the line for the Super Eagles in their quest for a vital win.
Fans will be hoping Eguavoen’s prediction comes true as Nigeria looks to strengthen their position and remain top of the table in the AFCON qualifiers.
