The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is still receiving applications for the Super Eagles head coach job, despite the team’s performance under Austin Eguavoen’s interim charge this month.
The Federation is seeking to quickly move on from the embarrassment with Bruno Labbadia’s premature announcement and subsequent rejection of the job in August.
With a week to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers campaign kicking off, It turned to Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen and NPFL Coaches Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede to take temporary charge of the games against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Despite the unexpected circumstances, the interim team secured a 3-0 home victory against Benin Republic and a goalless result away to Rwanda in Kigali.
Despite these performances, and calls among fans and sections of the media for the trio to be given the job on a permanent basis, it appears Eguavoen will continue to review applications of candidates for the Super Eagles Job.
Brila.net understands that the NFF plans to continue its search for a permanent coach ahead of the October international window.
According to Eguavoen as well, there has been no discussions, at this time, concerning his coaching crew overseeing the upcoming qualifying matches.
The Super Eagles will face Libya in a two-legged tie for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
