Victor Osimhen says he would be available to represent Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations.
The Napoli striker Victor Osimhen declared himself available to represent Nigeria at the tournament, after returning to training.
Osimhen was initially doubtful for the tournament, following the injury he sustained in Napoli’s Serie A clash with Inter Milan in November.
However the 22-year-old recovered from the injury and returned to training ahead of schedule, but he’s yet to play a competitive game for the Azzurri.
“I will be available for AFCON 💯 unless if I am not among the players picked to represent Nigeria”, Osimhem said, via his official Twitter account on Tuesday.
Osimhen’s declaration is a big boost for the Super Eagles who will be without Oghenekaro Etebo and Paul Onuachu for the tournament.
The Super Eagles are paired alongside, Guinea Bissau, Egypt and Sudan in Group D. They will begin their campaign against Egypt on Tuesday January 11th 2022.
