Former Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon has taken an optimistic stance despite Nigeria’s 1-0 loss to Brazil in the Olympic Games Women’s Football event.

In an interview with Brila.net, Okon congratulated the team for their narrow defeat and encouraged them to move past the loss and focus on their upcoming matches.

Okon emphasized that all hope is not lost, noting that the team can still advance out of the group stage despite the initial setback.

“I congratulate them for losing only 1-0. Let them look forward to the next match and then correct the mistakes and see what can move forward,” Okon said.

He continued, “They should raise their heads. 1-0 is a narrow miss. Any team, any match at that level is a very strong encounter. They should not feel down at that level. They should brace up and think of the win. If we win other matches, we can also come out of the group.”

Okon’s words serve as a rallying call for the Super Falcons to stay positive and focused as they prepare for their next challenge against World Cup defending champions, Spain. The match will be played on Sunday, 28th July at 6PM Nigerian time.
