Edo Queens head coach, Moses Aduku reveals why it is important to treat every match in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2024 with the same intensity as a cup final.

This is after their 3-0 victory over Central Bank of Ethiopia FC in Casablanca, a performance that saw them secure the top spot in Group B.

“We are grateful for the victory. The Ethiopian side was no pushover. We denied them of playing their game,”

“f you are to stay in a competition, you need to win your first game. We are here to compete and take it one game at a time.”

The victory was a statement of intent for the Nigerian club, which is participating in the competition for the first time.

Edo Queens will face Egypt’s FC Masar in their next fixture.

FC Masar made headlines after pulling off the tournament’s biggest upset so far by defeating defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies 1-0.

Aduku analyzed the strength and newfound confidence of their next opponents:

“Them defeating the champions has certainly given them confidence, but we are not here to undermine any team.

“What I have told my team is that every team that is here are potential champions and we have to play every game like it is a cup final.”

Aduku’s team knows that a win against FC Masar on Wednesday would significantly boost their chances of reaching the semi-finals, which will be an achievement that would be historic for the club.

The CAF Women’s Champions League action continues with Group A matches set for Monday.

University of the Western Cape will aim for their first win against Aigles De La Medina, while hosts AS FAR will meet TP Mazembe later in the evening.
